I have added a date-chooser source fla to the source file's section. I have been using this on several projects latley and is working a charm. I have also made up a simple tracker view that displays some of the data i collect when a user visit the site. You can see the datechooser in action by clicking on the top left of the site where it display's when the site was last updated.

The source files section is now open. There is a variety of source files to check out. Ranging from simple flash forums to the global map guestbook. Some are free and some you will need to purchase.
If your looking to purchase any the files that are for sale then you will first need to register on the site.

Well it's took the best part of a year and learning to other codng languages and it's nearly here.
Yes that's right i am just about ready to launch the first major update to the site in 4 years.

I am currently working final tests on Flash media server and just making sure that everything is working as it should.
There is a couple of sections of the site have still to be finalized but i can live with that as long as the rest is ok.

What can you expect to see in the new site:

- A new news and information page that outlines the which sections have been most recently updated.
- Improved forum with more functionality added.
- Brand new video gallery and player.
- Improved Global guestbook
- New fullscreen option availble to flash player 9. The option to toggle fullscreen can be found when you rightclick the mouse. One resrtiction to the fullscreen option is that there in no keyboard input event's allowed execpt for the 'esc' key.
- A new source files section where you can download source files. Some are for free and some you will have to pay for. I have the site linked upto paypal and have a bussines acount there. This section is one that is still being worked on but i hope to have it live before the end of the year.
- Some really cool stuff with Flash media server but i cant go into any details about that just yet

It's been a crazy 9 months but i am glad to say that i have finally got some time to get back to working on getting updates for innovativedesigns inplace.

Work is still in the early stages with implementing Flash Media Server into the site but i am happy with the progress i am making with it so far. I cant say yet what functions this is going bring to the site.

Work has also started on a brand spanking new video and photo gallery that will take advantage of Flash 9 H.264 for video playback in fullscreen mode.

On a final note you may notice over the coming weeks that some parts of the site stop working or that access to the site is closed. This will only be temporary.
The end is in sight.

Yes the end is in sight. I have been working hard the past few months developing a Flash Media Server app for Theory7. It's been great to be giving the opertunity to develop a large scale app using Flash Media Server.

There have been a few ups and downs but i am glad to see there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

For those of you that are intrested in FMS and would like to know more i have created this thread of quick links.

So whats next?

I would like to get the site updated with the modifications i did to the site apps last year.

I would like to see some of my FMS work appear on here. Not quite sure what yet but you can be sure that there will be someting. So keep checking back.

I can say that at 75of the work has been done but key areas need finishing beore it is ready to go live.

For the past 3 weeks i have been hard at work on brining innovativedesigns up to player 8 coding standards. I have also decide to take this time to give each section of the site an overhaul.

What can you expect with the changes:
- First off you will need to have flash player 8 installed. This wont be an issue for most peeps and for the ones that don't have player 8 i will be using the express install function so that there is never the need to leave the site.

- Smoother effects of fading and dragging windows and general less cpu usage.

- Easier to use upload image feature for user images(forum avatar).

- New user profile and registration system.

- Updated forum with working (as) code and (php) highlight tagging "a must for the update". File attachment feature will also be added for forum post's as well as enabling smiley's

- Comments can be posted on news blogs (registered users only)

- New tutorials and source fla's section. Some source fla's can be only purchased though there will be plenty of free one's. There will also be the option for innovativedesigns members to be able to add there own tutorials to this section.

- New paypal shopping cart system to purchase fla's

- Updated GPS Guestbook.

- Video gallery will see a move from using converted swf's to flv.

- New section covering service's offered by innovativedesigns. Believe it or not we do actually build website's!.

- There will be no change on how the site looks.

So all that and hopfully before the end of the year.

WoW what a busy 3 months it has been!!!
---
I have been made hyper moder on FLASHMOVE.COM and on http://www.flashgroup.net. Two great development help forums. Also peep's that are looking to learn flash+php might wont to check out http://www.sephiroth.it.
Came across the site recently and found it very usuful since it is only flash and php development. Much like innovativedesign ---
I have also been doing a lot of devlopment for theory7.com. cant beleive i have been working for them for nearly a year already.
---
One of the hardest projects i had over the summer was to built a life cover calculator for scottish widows. The calculator had to be completly accessible to screen readers and the like.
The calculator can be found here.
---
I also want to take a moment to mention a very cool peice of software that i can across.
I recently switch ISP then found that they were very poor with caching so this made test site's very teadiuos.
The software is called Charles and can be found at http://xk72.com/charles/
Charles is an HTTP proxy / HTTP monitor / Reverse Proxy that enables a developer to view all of the HTTP traffic between their machine and the Internet. This includes requests, responses and the HTTP headers (which contain the cookies and caching information).
Charles can act as a man-in-the-middle for HTTP/SSL communication, enabling
you to debug the content of your HTTPS sessions.
Charles Also simulates modem speeds by effectively throttling your bandwidth and introducing latency, so that you can experience an entire website as a modem user might (bandwidth simulator).
Charles is especially useful for Macromedia Flash developers as you can view the contents of LoadVariables, LoadMovie and XML loads. This is a must for any flash developer that are experincing problems with caching when testing projects online.

Wow what a day that was. Up at 6am to get a flight to London. I had never been to the big city before and was very nervous about it. I couldn't believe when I arrived at London Heathrow that it was colder than it was up here in Scotland.
The meeting was a real buzz and it was great to meet the guys behind T7.
Essentially the meeting was for the guys to get feel of what I was about and were I was coming from. I was made to feel very welcome and was even made coffee not just ordinary Nescafe! but 2 coffee brands mixed together, really need to get that secretary sorted out guys lol
It looks like it's going to be a really good year for innovativedesign and I look forward to future meetings with the T7 guys.

With that i will never try and travel back and forth from London in the same day. That was some trip.

The tower blocks have been empty and ready since the summer. It now looks as if this weakend is going to be the big one. There is no news as to whether all five are coming down at once or one after the other. Either way it's going to be fun to watch. The five blocks Tower over Glasgow and can bee seen from just about anywhere in Glasgow. All being well I hope to get the footage onto added to the video gallery this weekend. User regisration has been updated and now all new accounts will require activation before post's can be made on the forum. This will also be the case for the shopping cart(still being worked on).

There was some data loss during the transfer of the forum tables. I dont think it cause much case for concern since forum post are minimul.

What's to be done:

Re-work of user registration process, all current records will be carried over to the new database.
Shopping cart to be added.
Forum tweaking.

I am hoping that this will take no longer than a couple of weeks.

I would also like to take the chance to thank everyone that applied for the recent position that we had available.

I thought that i had lost all my work in a recent meltdown.
It's been like a month since i have been on the site. I had a big crash with my computer that required me to get a new motherboard thankfully it looks like i am all up and running now .
So whats been happening the past month. I am no longer a worker of the backshift 3pm - 10pm
I have been promoted to the dayshift whey hey 11am - 6pm
I am now finding myself being trained in a new postion that requires a bit more use with computers and and a bit less grafting , Anyone that has worked in factory processing will know that someone has to release the work into the system, This is what i am being trained up on. I am being trained up for driving the forklift trucks too. Nothing to do with computers but hey it's handy having a forklift licence.

I had been working a new guestbook before the crash. hoping to get back on with getting it finished.
So dont forget if your working on something big always make a backup !!!
